lovely varietal expression across three wines. younger wine a different style of phenolics and expression than the other two. a touch of greens frames the middle wine |
Lovely aromatics, seductive tropical notes with rose petal, lychee, lengthened with fresh acidity. |
A brave and surprising entry that invites reflection on how we look at Gewurz. A lithe, spicy older wine the big revelation here, the middle wine upright and long and the younger wine indicating some winemaking changes that may make a repeat of the oldest wine in this bracket difficult in years to come. |
W1: golden colour as would be expected from the variety, but nose is fresh and varietal, with rose petal, spice, lychee - very classic. Palate has some hardness, drying out at the core a bit. W2: Paler colour. Less obviously varietal on the nose, nice texture with powdery phenolic, lacks intensity. W3: deep colour, hessiany skinsy character with phenolic grip. Driven by the technique rather than the variety perhaps? As a Provenance entry this is very interesting, showing the progression of a phi |
distinct varietal , but a disconnect between the wines , |
