lovely degree of familiarity to the three wines however the wines lack some fruit expression and complexity across the board. |
Great to see aging capability, wines show balance of fruit and structure, Good density of fruit, without being heavily extracted. Like the tannin management |
A mellow, leathery and layered older wine a standout here. All three wines connected and communicating a clear argument for the variety. The wines all lean into the leathery elements of the variety, show composure and structure and show appropriate development for age. |
W1: developed colour, entirely tertiary in the classic leather/cigar box/dried rose vein. Hanging on on the palate with some ripe fruit, drying out on the finish. W2: Raspberry and plum, liquorice, firm tannin, moderate fruit that drops away on the finish. W3: medium intensity, unashamed firm but chalky tannin, some raisining. Would like some more freshness. |
