Oldest wine shows distinct development in colour and fruit character, but Italianate. Fruit on the palate is flattened by oxidisation. Second wine is very peppery, very lifted white pepper and a bloody iron character that is interesting but perhaps a touch too sour-fruited. Moderate length. The youngest wine I has much more vibrant colour and here the variety’s sour fruit profile is more balanced with fruit weight. Three wines showing same make-up of floral, forest, berry and pepper aromas at phases of maturity; same with structure of pepper-crunch tannins and firm acidity. This is an exciting flight, with integrity, commonality and distinction to the wines.

Elegant, detailed fruit with considerable structure holding it, really blossoming in the 2018 with a ripeness and ease of expression as the tannins start to melt. 2015 is clearly mature but still holding on, flavours have turned earthy, leathery and sous bois with a sweet balsamic undertow. There is energy across the board with an elegance despite the tannins.
